This workshop proposes to engage research at a pedestrian level, and to conduct a slow experiment in being, learning, and speaking with an object. One way to describe your activities is to say: you will be spending some time with an object that inhabits the public space, and documenting what it teaches you (we will spend some time together defining what an “object” might be for the purpose of this course). Drawing from Ingold, Grosz and Rubio, we will suppose that the object is ongoing, or unstable, and you will be asked to care for it (even though it does not belong to you). You will bring a few things alongside you: texts, ideas and tools to think about and implement an observation. The journal you will keep is one of the outcomes of the project (a printable file will be provided by the teacher, and filled by you during the semester). As the project progresses, you will dig deeper into the object’s relations to its ecosystem(s) and map the relations that interest you, thus defining your position as researcher. During a final, intense phase, you will take a step forward towards the object and do something to it: repair it, dismantle it, make it invisible, describe or historicize it. We will discuss the implications of thinking of these actions as forms of research, and conclude with some thoughts on maintenance: where does your research go from now on? Thinking of the different possibilities open to you (archive, transmit, connect, destroy) will conclude a sort of mutually impacting tango between you and the object.
The point of this workshop is to “assert your right to research,” (Appadurai, 2006) while refuting the idea that research pre-exist to your encounter with the “object”. Our hypothesis – that one becomes a researcher dynamically, responsively – will be framed by an ethics of care, and a particular attention to the tools we bring to, and traces we leave on, objects.
Outcome: alongside the journal that will accompany you through the semester, your intervention on the object will constitute a second outcome. This may take the form of an intervention or condition report, and audio-guide, a broadcasted object lesson etc.
This workshop is limited to 15 students (MA Art or Design) and it will be held in English.

Introduction (seeding) session: April 22nd, 10-12 and 1-3

Since I have received some messages asking how exactly the credits and the attendance for SprechenÜber are regulated-here a short explanation:
-> In order to pass the course, you must have been present at least 4 times in one academic year (WiSe and SoSe).
->If this is the case you can contact Gastprof. Julian Adenauer ( https://kh-berlin.incom.org/profile/1034 ) , he can then enter the credits in your student record!
I hope this clearifies it for everyone!
Dont miss next weeks SprechenÜber with Karsten Schuhl from the M.I.T Media Lab!!
See you there!
PS: Karsten is a weißensee graduate, so maybe it is particularly intersting to hear his story :-)
We are excited for this weeks SprechenÜber!

i try to draw the line with different color, the effect is really good!
50 x70 cm ,ball pint pen on paper , perhaps with bigger paper wil be much more better…
Today jitsi bitsi spider #4!!! 17th of June at 22:00 (10 p.m.) CET, design collective Moniker will talk about their practise in general, and participatory film-making in particular.
Meet up @ the Jitsi Meeting Room and do a little night hike from there.
See you later!
relax, feel the line swim on paper, soft and hard line, short or wave….i still draw the line with my understanding about the life at that moment.
Black white work is always classic, like mode. But the color make our life much more beautiful, and also the meaning of every color is differently. one time i have find some pen with different color in a shop in Berlin then i can not stop drawing with it. if i finished a work, a small sketch or a big work i want to share with the friends of Facebook and Instagram. Slowly more and more people follow my ins and facebook. every small hand is like a person, like every one is unique, with different character.
we dancing, we singing,we put all the passion to our life…this small logo is slowly become my symbol.
Before in china wen i draw something ,people or something else, they always say what you draw should like the real person,we think too much about the basic class, the bone ,the muscle, the structure of our body. it is like our culture by some way, there is so many rule you should follow. i do not think that is wrong ,but we should lern each other. as i come to Germany, i find there is so many ways to express myself, drawing should be interesting, unique, what you draw looks like the real person or not, it is not important at all. i muss say the time in
Germany change me a lot. i can draw as i want …whatever with which way …
With this project i want to find the relationship between the line and my life. life is pure, complicated, hard, beautiful ,funny, crazy ,elegant….actually it is not so easy to express the different meaning of the life, so i continue the way: draw something every day , people i meet , animals ,plants ,imagination that appear in mein brain…every line is with life, the line can bin hard, can be soft ,can be smoothly…..
Every thing is with life, wir human beings, animals, pant, flower, and also art works. As i walk in Prenzlauberg in Berlin,i have meet a ceramic shop, through the window i have seen the art works, they looks like very elegant and also interesting and they stand and talk about each other. perhaps they make a plan for a travel ….
Like the ceramic art works, life should be elegant and interesting, it must not be but we can try,try to find some way to make our life much more interesting …
